About

Rock & Vegan sits in a residential pocket of San José del Cabo, away from the tourist strip. It's a vegetarian and vegan spot priced in the cheap-eats tier, which is rare for plant-based food anywhere near a resort zone. The name tells you what to expect — vegan versions of tacos, burgers, bowls, the usual lineup — but the execution is apparently clean enough to earn perfect fives across food, value, and service from early reviewers. Two reviews isn't enough to call it proven, but perfect subratings on all three fronts suggest whoever's running it is paying attention. The location means you'll need a car or ride to get there, and it's not the kind of place you stumble into by accident. If you're vegan or vegetarian and tired of asking kitchens to modify dishes, this is one of the few dedicated options on the San José side that won't overcharge you for rice and beans.

Tours & things to do nearby

SALTY CABO Excursions

SALTY CABO Excursions runs out of La Playa in San José del Cabo, and the 5-out-of-5 rating across 604 reviews puts it near the top of the waterborne options here. This is a four-hour outing at moderate intensity, so you're active but not white-knuckling it — expect a mix of snorkeling, cruising, and probably some paddleboard time depending on conditions. The price sits around $100 per person, which is standard for a half-day water trip in the area. What separates them is consistency. Six hundred reviews at a perfect rating means they're doing something right with groups, gear, and crew. Most operators in Cabo hit the same spots — the arch, Pelican Rock, Lover's Beach — but execution varies wildly. SALTY keeps it smooth. Book direct through their site to avoid markup and get on the schedule early, especially in high season when morning departures fill fast.

Misión San José del Cabo

The original mission church stands in the center of San José del Cabo, anchoring the town plaza where the Gallery District spreads out to the north. Built in the 18th century after earlier versions were destroyed, it's a working parish church with a tile mural over the entrance depicting the martyrdom of Padre Tamaral — a violent episode from mission history that's unusual to see rendered so explicitly. The interior is simple, whitewashed, with wooden beams and local santos, and mass still runs most evenings. It's rated 4.3 across 860-plus reviews, which is solid for a historic site that isn't trying to entertain. Most people stop by during a Thursday evening art walk or while wandering the plaza. You can walk in free when services aren't happening. The surrounding square has benches under fig trees and usually a few vendors — it's the calm center of town before the galleries and restaurants take over a block north.

Cabo Ground Services

Cabo Ground Services operates out of San José del Cabo and handles airport transfers, private shuttles, and multi-stop runs along the coast. The 5/5 rating across 280 reviews suggests reliability — people care a lot about airport logistics, and consistently hitting that mark means pickups happen when they're supposed to and drivers show up with your name on a sign. This is a ground transportation service, not a tour operator, so the value is in execution: air-conditioned vehicles, direct routing, and none of the timeshare-pitch stops that plague some shuttle companies. If you're landing late or connecting to a resort in the Corridor or East Cape, having a name waiting beats negotiating with taxi dispatchers. Book ahead if your flight lands after 10 PM or during high season. Response time and vehicle type matter more than price when you've been traveling for eight hours.

Baja Brewing San José Del Cabo | Cantina

Baja Brewing San José del Cabo sits in the historic center, a block or two off the main plaza on Morelos. It's the brewery-meets-cantina version of the original up the coast — beer made on-site, pub menu that runs beyond the usual fish tacos. The 4.5 rating across 1,300+ reviews is consistent: food, service, and atmosphere all land in the same range, which means they're not coasting on the beer alone. The atmosphere score edges slightly higher, probably because of the patio and the fact that it's one of the few spots in the old town where you can sit outside with a flight and not feel like you're in a postcard shop. Mid-range pricing keeps it accessible, and the value subrating suggests portions hold up. If you want something darker or hoppier than a Corona and you're already walking the art district, this works. Gets busy Thursday through Saturday evenings.

La Lupita Taco & Mezcal

La Lupita sits in the heart of downtown San José del Cabo, a couple blocks from the plaza, and it draws the kind of crowd that knows the difference between tourist tacos and the real thing. The 4.6 food rating isn't hard to explain — this is straightforward Mexican cooking done right, with a mezcal list that takes the category seriously. Over 1,200 reviews keep it steady at 4.5 overall, which at mid-range pricing suggests consistency more than novelty. The vibe is casual enough for kids but grown-up enough that the mezcal selection matters. Atmosphere scores slightly lower than food, which tracks — you're here to eat, not to linger over decor. The value rating at 4.4 means portion sizes and pricing feel fair, and that's worth noting in a town where taco spots can swing wildly. Walk-ins work fine; no need to call ahead.

Las Guacamayas - San Jose del Cabo

Las Guacamayas sits near the marina in San José del Cabo, and the price level tells you what you need to know: this is local breakfast done right. The 4.5 food rating and 4.6 value rating back that up — over 1,100 reviews is a lot of consensus for a cheap-eats spot. The menu leans on eggs, chilaquiles, and fresh tortillas, the kind of place where regulars show up in the same booth every Saturday. The atmosphere rating trails slightly, which makes sense when you're prioritizing speed and portion size over decor. Service clocks in at 4.5, so the staff keeps things moving without the upsell. If you're staying in San José and want to start the day like someone who actually lives here, this is the move. Cash speeds things up.

Casa Natalia Boutique Hotel

Casa Natalia sits on the main boulevard in the historic center of San José del Cabo, a block from the plaza and the art galleries. It's a boutique property — 16 rooms, small pool, quiet courtyard — and the service rating of 4.7 backs up the category. The cleanliness score is 4.8, which matters in older buildings where detail work shows. Location is the other standout here: 4.7 means you can walk to most of what San José has, and you're not stuck in a resort bubble on the coast. The overall 4.6 from nearly 700 reviews suggests consistency more than flash. Rooms and sleep quality both sit at 4.5 or 4.6, so expect comfortable but not oversized. Value comes in at 4.4, reasonable for a boutique in this part of town. If you want the historic district and don't need a beach outside your door, this is one of the smarter picks.

San José del Cabo

El Encanto Suites Hotel Boutique

El Encanto Suites Hotel Boutique is in the middle of downtown San José del Cabo, a few blocks from the plaza and the art walk corridor. The 4.7 location score tells you what you need to know — you can walk to galleries, restaurants, and the Thursday night scene without dealing with a car or shuttle. The property runs smaller and quieter than the beachfront resorts. Rooms score a 4.2, sleep quality hits 4.3, and cleanliness comes in at 4.5, so the fundamentals are covered. Service sits at 4.3, which is solid for a boutique operation where you're not drowning in staff but things get handled. The value rating of 4.2 suggests the nightly rate makes sense for what you get. If you want to be near the historic center instead of on a beach club lounger, this works. You're trading pool size and ocean access for walkability and a better sense of the actual town.

San José del Cabo

Alegranza Luxury Resort

Alegranza sits in San José del Cabo's golf district, about a ten-minute drive from the historic downtown and fifteen from the beach. The cleanliness rating — 4.8 out of 5 — is the standout number here, and the rooms score similarly high at 4.7. This is a small-scale, all-suite property that skews toward couples looking for quiet over foot traffic. The golf course location means space and calm, but you'll need a car or shuttle to reach the water or the Art District. Service is solid at 4.6, and guests tend to appreciate the turndown attention and pool areas more than the immediate surroundings. Value comes in at 4.4, which is fair for the category — you're paying for privacy and polished upkeep, not for walkability or prime beachfront.
