Casa Contenta Bed & Breakfast is a 5-star resort in Cabo San Lucas with 8 rooms rated 5.0/5 by 201 TripAdvisor reviewers; typical rates from about $520 a night.

About

Casa Contenta sits in El Tezal, a residential neighborhood on the hillside just above Cabo San Lucas — close enough to the marina and downtown action but completely removed from the noise. The 5-star rating across 201 reviews isn't inflated; subratings run 4.6 to 4.9 across the board, which means they're nailing the basics. Rooms, sleep quality, cleanliness, and service all land near perfect, and the value score at 4.8 suggests you're not paying resort premiums for what amounts to a well-run guesthouse. The B&B format means smaller scale and more personal attention — a middle ground if you want something quieter than the big hotels but don't need a full kitchen rental. Location scores slightly lower than the rest, likely because you're not beachfront and you'll need a car or rideshare to get down the hill. But if you're using Cabo as a base and want to sleep well without the pool party soundtrack, it works.

What travelers are saying.

Steady

Low confidence

Travelers say Casa Contenta delivers an intimate hillside retreat that feels more like staying in a friend's luxury home than a traditional B&B. You'll wake to Dora's varied breakfast spreads served on the outdoor terrace, spend afternoons by the unheated pool, and watch sunsets from the fourth-floor rooftop deck with fire pit overlooking Land's End. Hosts Craig and Lori balance attentive concierge service with respectful distance, offering local restaurant tips and activity connections while letting you claim the multi-level villa's many private nooks. Repeat visitors consistently cite the personal warmth and genuine hospitality as what sets this apart from Cabo's all-inclusive resorts.

Tips from travelers

Copy directions carefully—the turn from the main road looks like a parking lot, not a road entrance
Use the grocery delivery service to stock the kitchen before arrival for maximum relaxation
Reserve the entire villa for groups of 10-12 to gain full kitchen access and privacy
Book the private chef or masseuse services Craig arranges for rooftop terrace experiences

Maybe skip if: Travelers wanting beachfront access, walkable nightlife, or all-inclusive convenience should look elsewhere—this requires a rental car and self-directed exploration.

Pueblo Bonito Rosé Resort & Spa

Pueblo Bonito Rosé sits right on Playa El Médano in Cabo San Lucas, which means you're walking distance from the marina and downtown but still on the best swimming beach in the area. The 4.8 location score makes sense — it's one of the few resorts where you can actually swim without getting pounded by surf, and you can walk to restaurants and bars when you're done with the pool. The property skews traditional all-inclusive resort, and with nearly 10,000 reviews holding at 4.5 overall, it clearly works for a lot of people. Service ratings match the overall score, so expect attentive staff. Rooms and sleep quality come in slightly lower at 4.1 and 4.2, which is honest — this isn't a new build, and some units show their age. The value rating at 4.2 suggests the all-inclusive pricing feels fair for what you get. If you want calm water, walkable access to town, and a full-service setup without driving everywhere, this checks the boxes.

Pueblo Bonito Blanco Los Cabos Beach Resort

Pueblo Bonito Blanco sits on Médano Beach in Cabo San Lucas, which means you're a short walk from the marina and downtown restaurants, but you can still plant yourself on the sand without moving. The 4.8 location score explains most of the appeal — Médano is the only swimmable beach in town, and the resort has direct access. With nearly 7,000 reviews holding a 4.6 overall, it's proven reliable at scale. The rooms rate lower than service and cleanliness, which tells you where the operation focuses its energy. It's a solid midrange pick if you want beachfront positioning without boutique pricing, though don't expect cutting-edge interiors. The layout is sprawling and a bit dated in spots, but the staff consistently pulls higher marks than the hardware. If your priority is waking up on Médano and being able to walk to the action in town, the location math works.

The Cape A Thompson Hotel By Hyatt

The Cape sits on the Pacific side of Cabo San Lucas, where the surf is rougher and the scene is quieter than the marina corridor. A 4.8 rating across nearly 4,600 reviews is rare for a hotel at this scale, and the consistency shows — rooms, service, cleanliness, and sleep quality all land at 4.8. That kind of alignment usually means the property delivers what it promises without the usual resort shortcuts. The location trades calm swimming water for dramatic coastline and sunset views. It's a deliberate choice — this isn't the marina postcard, it's the open-ocean version. The value subrating at 4.5 suggests the price point is noticed but not a dealbreaker for most guests. If you want a beach where you can actually wade in, this isn't it. If you want a pool scene with ocean backdrop and a resort that executes well on the details, it makes sense.

Sunset Monalisa

Sunset Monalisa sits on the Pacific cliffs in the Misiones del Cabo area of Cabo San Lucas, and the 4.9 atmosphere score tells you why people come — the view is the menu's co-star. The food holds its own at 4.5, and the kitchen takes fine dining seriously without the usual resort-town corner-cutting. Service runs tight at 4.7, which matters when you're paying fine-dining prices and the place is pulling over eight thousand reviews. The value rating sits at 4.3, which is honest — you're paying for the location and the execution, not for a deal. But the overall 4.8 across that volume of feedback means they're consistent, and consistency at this level in Cabo isn't common. If you're going to do one splurge dinner with a view, this is the reliable play. Reservations move, especially near sunset. The road up is narrow and the parking is tight, so plan the arrival.

Cabo San Lucas

Rosa Negra Cabo Restaurant

Rosa Negra sits on the Transpeninsular just north of Cabo San Lucas, and the 4.9 rating across 3,000+ reviews tells you it's executing at a level most fine-dining spots never hit. The food scores nearly as high as the atmosphere, which is unusual — usually one eclipses the other. Here the kitchen and the room are both doing the work, and the 4.6 value score suggests you're not just paying for the lighting. The atmosphere rating is perfect, and that tracks with the Latin American theatrical dining Rosa Negra does across its locations — live music, tableside fire, servers who move. It's loud, it's a show, and if you want a quiet anniversary dinner this isn't it. If you want energy and food that holds up under the performance, it works. Fine dining here means you're spending, but the value subrating says people left feeling like the tab made sense.

Cabo San Lucas

Bar Esquina Los Cabos

Bar Esquina sits on El Médano beach in Cabo San Lucas, right where the sand meets the foot traffic. It's a corner spot that pulls double duty as a daytime beach bar and a proper dinner destination after sunset. The 4.8 atmosphere rating makes sense once you're there — you're basically on the sand with unobstructed water views and string lights overhead. The kitchen turns out solid Mexican and seafood plates that hold up against the 4.6 food score, and service moves at the same clip. It's priced mid-range, which for beachfront in Cabo means you're paying for location but not getting gouged. The value rating of 4.3 suggests people feel it's fair for what you get. Come for lunch with wet hair or stay through dinner — it works either way. The place fills up during high season, so timing matters if you want a table with a view.

Beaches nearby

Cabo San Lucas

Medano Beach

Medano Beach is the main swimming beach in Cabo San Lucas, which matters because most of Cabo's coast is open Pacific with serious undertow. This one sits on the Sea of Cortez side, sheltered and calm enough that lifeguards actually oversee designated swim zones instead of just waving people back. The 4.3 rating across 4,500+ reviews holds because it delivers the straightforward thing people want: swimmable water, long stretch of sand, and the restaurant-and-bar infrastructure you expect from a tourist beach. You'll find beach clubs with lounge setups, water sports rentals, and boats heading out to the arch. It gets crowded, especially midday when the cruise groups arrive, but the water stays gentle. If you're traveling with kids or you just want to get in the ocean without checking the flag conditions, this is the one that works.

Cabo San Lucas

Playa Grande Cabo

Playa Grande sits on the Pacific side of Cabo San Lucas, and it's not called "Grande" for nothing — wide sand, big surf, and even bigger riptides. This is not a swimming beach. The shore break and currents are strong enough that lifeguards spend most of their time waving people back to dry sand. What it does offer is space. Compared to the packed hotel beaches on the bay side, Playa Grande stretches out with room to walk, and the wave watching is legitimate if you're into that. Locals bodyboard here when conditions line up, but they know the breaks and the pull — tourists should stay on the sand. If you're looking for a postcard Pacific backdrop and don't mind skipping the water, it works. Just don't test the current. The ocean wins.
