About

Craft San José sits on the malecón in San José del Cabo, walking distance from the gallery district. The 4.9 rating across 113 reviews lands squarely on the food and service — both scored perfect fives — which is harder to pull off in fine dining than casual spots, where people grade on a curve. The atmosphere rating matches, so the room delivers too. Fine dining in Cabo can mean a lot of things, but when the value subrating hits 4.6 out of 5 at this price tier, people feel like they got what they paid for. That's notable. The kitchen is clearly consistent, and the front-of-house doesn't phone it in. If you're staying in San José and want something nicer than tacos but don't want to drive back into the Corridor, this is the answer. Reservations are probably smart.

Tours & things to do nearby

High Tide Sea Expeditions

High Tide Sea Expeditions runs small-group boat trips out of Cabo San Lucas, and the 5/5 rating across nearly 5,000 reviews puts them at the top of the activity heap locally. They're known for whale watching in season and year-round snorkeling runs to spots around the arch and up toward Santa Maria. The boats max out around a dozen people, so you're not fighting for rail space, and the crew actually explains what you're looking at instead of just pointing. The review volume suggests they move a lot of guests without the rating sliding, which is harder than it sounds in the excursion business. Expect a morning departure, a couple of hours on the water, and decent odds of seeing mantas or sea lions depending on the season. They handle pickups from most hotels in the tourist corridor. Book ahead if you're traveling in winter — the humpback window fills fast.

SALTY CABO Excursions

SALTY CABO Excursions runs out of La Playa in San José del Cabo, and the 5-out-of-5 rating across 604 reviews puts it near the top of the waterborne options here. This is a four-hour outing at moderate intensity, so you're active but not white-knuckling it — expect a mix of snorkeling, cruising, and probably some paddleboard time depending on conditions. The price sits around $100 per person, which is standard for a half-day water trip in the area. What separates them is consistency. Six hundred reviews at a perfect rating means they're doing something right with groups, gear, and crew. Most operators in Cabo hit the same spots — the arch, Pelican Rock, Lover's Beach — but execution varies wildly. SALTY keeps it smooth. Book direct through their site to avoid markup and get on the schedule early, especially in high season when morning departures fill fast.

Hydro FlyBoard Los Cabos

Hydro FlyBoard Los Cabos operates out of Puerto los Cabos in San José del Cabo, where the marina puts you on calm water for trying out a flyboard—essentially boots strapped to a jet of water that lift you up to 15 feet if you get the balance right. The 5/5 rating across 352 reviews suggests the instructors walk beginners through it without making anyone feel like an idiot, which matters when you're hovering over the Sea of Cortez on what feels like a fire hose. Most people spend the first ten minutes face-planting, then another ten actually flying, which is apparently enough to make it worth the trip. The marina location means you're not fighting surf or boat traffic, just working on not flipping backward. Expect to get wet, expect to laugh at yourself, and if you've got decent core strength you'll probably pick it up faster than you think.

Don Sanchez Restaurant

Don Sanchez sits on Boulevard Mijares in the heart of San José del Cabo's art district, and it's one of the few fine-dining spots in town that locals actually recommend. The 4.7 food rating across more than 1,300 reviews tells you what you need to know — the kitchen is consistent and the menu doesn't rely on tricks. Service matches the same 4.7, which matters when you're paying fine-dining prices and the room is full. The atmosphere rating is equally high, so expect tablecloths and a slower pace than the taco stands down the street. The value subrating sits at 4.4, which is solid for the category — fine dining in Cabo can feel extractive, and this doesn't. If you're spending a night in San José and want a proper dinner without driving back toward the Corridor, this is the move.

Flora's Field Kitchen

Flora's Field Kitchen is a farm-to-table restaurant out in Animas Bajas, about twenty minutes east of San José del Cabo. It sits on a working organic farm, which means the menu changes based on what's ready — mostly salads, wood-fired pizzas, and composed plates that lean vegetable-forward. The atmosphere rating (4.8) isn't surprising; you're eating outside under trees with rows of crops on all sides, and it feels a world away from the hotel zone. The food scores higher than the value, which tracks — portions are moderate and prices reflect the ingredients and the setting. Service is polished without feeling formal. Reservations help, especially on weekends when the brunch crowd shows up. It's a popular stop for people staying in the East Cape or anyone looking for something slower and greener than the beachfront scene.

Nido

Nido sits on the malecón in San José del Cabo's Hotel Zone, and the 4.8 atmosphere score tells the story—it's the kind of Japanese seafood spot where the setting does half the work. The cuisine leans into coastal Japan by way of Baja: sashimi, nigiri, and rolls built around what's fresh, with a few grilled plates that bridge the gap. Fine dining here means presentation and plating, not necessarily rigid formality, though the upscale vibe and price tier keep it firmly in the special-occasion category. The 4.6 overall rating across 123 reviews holds steady on all fronts—food, service, and value each land around 4.4 to 4.5, which suggests consistency more than fireworks. You're paying for the waterfront perch and the polish. It's not kid-friendly, and there's no mention of dietary accommodations, so plan accordingly. Reservations aren't required, but walking in on a weekend sunset might test your patience.

Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos

Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos sits on the San José del Cabo beachfront where the malecón meets the sand. It's an all-inclusive built for families — pools, swim-up bars, kids' clubs, multiple restaurants under one wristband. The service rating at 4.6 backs up what you'll notice on arrival: staff moves fast, rooms turn over clean, and the beach setup gets restocked without you flagging anyone down. Rooms pull a 4.5 for both comfort and sleep quality, which matters when you're sharing walls with other families. The value score of 4.3 reflects what all-inclusives do — you prepay everything, so daily decisions shrink to where you eat dinner. Location works if you want the San José side but still want resort containment; downtown is a short ride if you need to leave the property. Fourteen thousand reviews at 4.4 overall means it delivers the expected all-inclusive experience consistently. Cleanliness scores high. If you're bringing kids and want predictable infrastructure, this does it.

San José del Cabo

Royal Solaris Los Cabos

Royal Solaris Los Cabos anchors the southern end of the hotel zone in San José del Cabo, close enough to the marina to walk but far enough out to have elbow room. It's an all-inclusive built for families who want predictable value — serviceable rooms, multiple pools, and nightly entertainment that runs the gamut from mariachi to foam parties. The staff scores consistently high, which matters when you're dealing with kids and meal timing. Rooms and sleep quality sit at 4.0, so manage expectations accordingly; this isn't a design showcase, but cleanliness holds at 4.4 and the price tier reflects what you're getting. The location rating of 4.4 makes sense if you're okay being a short taxi ride from the San José art walk and slightly removed from downtown Cabo San Lucas. It's quieter here. The beach isn't swimmable most of the year, but the pool setup compensates. If you need every meal and drink covered without scanning menus for prices, it does the job without drama.

San José del Cabo

Viceroy Los Cabos

Viceroy Los Cabos sits on the quiet end of the San José hotel zone, where the malecón meets the beach. The 4.9 cleanliness rating and 4.8 for rooms aren't flukes — this is a property that runs tight, and it shows in the details. The layout is low-slung, modern, and spread out enough that you're not stacked on top of other guests. The location score is high for a reason: walkable to the San José art district and restaurants, but far enough from the Cabo San Lucas chaos that you get actual quiet at night. Service holds at 4.7, which in a market flooded with resorts is worth noting. The value rating at 4.4 suggests you're paying for the polish, but nearly 3,000 reviews at 4.7 overall means people leave satisfied. If you want the newer, design-forward side of Los Cabos without the spring-break energy, this is the play.

Choriarte Became: Cárnica

Choriarte Became: Cárnica is on the malecón in San José del Cabo, tucked into a local plaza that most tourists walk past. It's a steakhouse with an international menu, mid-priced, and the atmosphere rating of 5.0 explains why the place fills up — casual enough for families, polished enough that you don't feel like you're eating in a food court. The food scores match the vibe: 4.7 across the board, with strong value marks in a town where that doesn't always happen. The name signals the shift: it started as Choriarte and became Cárnica, leaning harder into the butcher-shop aesthetic and grilled cuts. You can bring kids without feeling like you picked wrong, and you don't need a reservation to walk in on a weeknight. It's the kind of spot locals use when they want steak but don't want to commit to the high-ticket places up the corridor.

San José del Cabo

STK Steakhouse Los Cabos

STK sits in San José del Cabo near the airport, running the upscale steakhouse playbook with a DJ booth and mood lighting. It's the kind of place that splits the room — people either want the scene or they don't. The 4.2 rating holds across 300+ reviews, which is solid for a brand import, but the subratings tell the real story: food scores a 3.6, value comes in at 2.9. You're paying for the experience as much as the ribeye. Service runs at 3.9, atmosphere at 3.5. The vibe skews louder and younger than most Cabo steakhouses, and it's not trying to be a quiet anniversary dinner. If you want American cuts in a room that feels more Miami than Mexico, and you're fine with the bill, it works. Just know what you're walking into.
