About

Capitan Seafood is on Boulevard Mauricio Castro in San José del Cabo, a street that runs parallel to the beach east of the centro. Two reviews, both perfect 5s across food, value, and service — small sample, but when all three categories land that cleanly, it's at least worth noting. The name says what it is: seafood, no frills. The address puts it in the hotel zone stretch, so it's probably catching repeat visitors who want something straightforward and reliable without the downtown markup. Perfect value scores usually mean portions are fair and prices don't sting. With only two reviews logged, this isn't a volume operation, but that can cut both ways — either it's new, or it's the kind of place locals pass by word of mouth and tourists stumble into once. If you're staying on that side of San José and want fish without a scene, it's an option. Just know you're working off a thin track record.

Tours & things to do nearby

SALTY CABO Excursions

SALTY CABO Excursions runs out of La Playa in San José del Cabo, and the 5-out-of-5 rating across 604 reviews puts it near the top of the waterborne options here. This is a four-hour outing at moderate intensity, so you're active but not white-knuckling it — expect a mix of snorkeling, cruising, and probably some paddleboard time depending on conditions. The price sits around $100 per person, which is standard for a half-day water trip in the area. What separates them is consistency. Six hundred reviews at a perfect rating means they're doing something right with groups, gear, and crew. Most operators in Cabo hit the same spots — the arch, Pelican Rock, Lover's Beach — but execution varies wildly. SALTY keeps it smooth. Book direct through their site to avoid markup and get on the schedule early, especially in high season when morning departures fill fast.

Cabo Ground Services

Cabo Ground Services operates out of San José del Cabo and handles airport transfers, private shuttles, and multi-stop runs along the coast. The 5/5 rating across 280 reviews suggests reliability — people care a lot about airport logistics, and consistently hitting that mark means pickups happen when they're supposed to and drivers show up with your name on a sign. This is a ground transportation service, not a tour operator, so the value is in execution: air-conditioned vehicles, direct routing, and none of the timeshare-pitch stops that plague some shuttle companies. If you're landing late or connecting to a resort in the Corridor or East Cape, having a name waiting beats negotiating with taxi dispatchers. Book ahead if your flight lands after 10 PM or during high season. Response time and vehicle type matter more than price when you've been traveling for eight hours.

Caboride & Transfers

Caboride & Transfers runs airport pickups and point-to-point service around Cabo San Lucas and the wider Los Cabos area. The 5-star rating across 173 reviews suggests they're doing something right with the basics — showing up on time, drivers who know the roads, vehicles that work. For a region where taxi situations at the airport can get messy and ride-sharing is inconsistent, having a pre-booked transfer waiting when you land removes one variable. They handle the standard routes: SJD airport to hotel zone, hotel to marina, anywhere in the Tourist Corridor or out to San José del Cabo. It's the kind of service that matters most when it just works quietly in the background of your trip.

Flora's Field Kitchen

Flora's Field Kitchen is a farm-to-table restaurant out in Animas Bajas, about twenty minutes east of San José del Cabo. It sits on a working organic farm, which means the menu changes based on what's ready — mostly salads, wood-fired pizzas, and composed plates that lean vegetable-forward. The atmosphere rating (4.8) isn't surprising; you're eating outside under trees with rows of crops on all sides, and it feels a world away from the hotel zone. The food scores higher than the value, which tracks — portions are moderate and prices reflect the ingredients and the setting. Service is polished without feeling formal. Reservations help, especially on weekends when the brunch crowd shows up. It's a popular stop for people staying in the East Cape or anyone looking for something slower and greener than the beachfront scene.

Habanero's Gastro Grill

Habanero's Gastro Grill is on Morelos in the center of San José del Cabo, a block or two back from the art district. It's been open long enough to rack up 1,600-plus reviews and still hold a 4.5, which tells you something about consistency. The food subrating edges above the rest at 4.6, and the value rating at 4.4 suggests they're not gouging tourists on mid-range pricing. The menu skews modern Mexican with grill work—hence the name—and the kitchen clearly delivers more than standard resort fare. Service runs tight at 4.6, so expect your plates when they're supposed to arrive. The atmosphere rating sits a notch lower at 4.3, which probably means the room is functional but not trying to be a scene. It's a solid pick if you're staying in San José and want something better than average without crossing into the fine-dining column. Reservations help on weekends.

Baja Brewing San José Del Cabo | Cantina

Baja Brewing San José del Cabo sits in the historic center, a block or two off the main plaza on Morelos. It's the brewery-meets-cantina version of the original up the coast — beer made on-site, pub menu that runs beyond the usual fish tacos. The 4.5 rating across 1,300+ reviews is consistent: food, service, and atmosphere all land in the same range, which means they're not coasting on the beer alone. The atmosphere score edges slightly higher, probably because of the patio and the fact that it's one of the few spots in the old town where you can sit outside with a flight and not feel like you're in a postcard shop. Mid-range pricing keeps it accessible, and the value subrating suggests portions hold up. If you want something darker or hoppier than a Corona and you're already walking the art district, this works. Gets busy Thursday through Saturday evenings.

San José del Cabo

Suites Lomboy & Plaza

Suites Lomboy & Plaza is a small property in San José del Cabo with perfect subratings across rooms, sleep quality, value, service, location, and cleanliness—though that's based on only two reviews, so the sample is thin. The address puts it in a residential zone rather than the tourist spine, which likely means quieter surroundings and a different feel from the beachfront corridor. With such limited feedback, it's hard to assess consistency or what the place actually delivers day-to-day. The perfect scores suggest guests who stayed had no complaints, but two data points don't tell you much about variability in experience or how it handles a full house. If you're considering it, reach out directly to confirm what's included and what the setup actually is—sometimes smaller properties in this category are more like furnished apartments than traditional resorts, and expectations should adjust accordingly.

San José del Cabo

Surfer's Paradise, Yoga&Food Garden@Costa Azul

Surfer's Paradise sits just off the Transpeninsular Highway at Km 28, near Costa Azul in San José del Cabo—the break that actually brings surfers to this coast. The name telegraphs the vibe: yoga, food, and waves within walking distance. With only two reviews logged, this is a small operation, but the perfect rating suggests the people who find it tend to appreciate what it does. The setup appears to lean casual—surf-oriented lodging paired with a food garden and yoga space, built for travelers who want proximity to the lineup without the resort apparatus. Costa Azul is the real draw here: consistent beach break, beginner-friendly on small days, punchy when the swell fills in. If you're coming to surf and want a base that understands the rhythm, this fits. Expect basic amenities and a quiet property. The limited review count means you're taking a small bet, but the location delivers if Costa Azul is your reason for being in San José.

San José del Cabo

Hotel Jazuli

Hotel Jazuli sits in the Zacatal neighborhood of San José del Cabo, inland from the main hotel zone. With a 2.8 rating across four reviews and bottom-tier scores for sleep quality, value, and service, this is not a property that's delivering on the basics. The 1.0 subratings suggest real problems with room conditions, staff responsiveness, or both. If you're looking at this because the rate is low, understand what you're trading. San José has plenty of guesthouses and budget options that perform better on the fundamentals — clean rooms, working amenities, staff who show up when something goes wrong. A bad mattress or indifferent service ruins a trip faster than saving fifty bucks fixes it. Worth checking what's actually available before committing here.

Nido

Nido sits on the malecón in San José del Cabo's Hotel Zone, and the 4.8 atmosphere score tells the story—it's the kind of Japanese seafood spot where the setting does half the work. The cuisine leans into coastal Japan by way of Baja: sashimi, nigiri, and rolls built around what's fresh, with a few grilled plates that bridge the gap. Fine dining here means presentation and plating, not necessarily rigid formality, though the upscale vibe and price tier keep it firmly in the special-occasion category. The 4.6 overall rating across 123 reviews holds steady on all fronts—food, service, and value each land around 4.4 to 4.5, which suggests consistency more than fireworks. You're paying for the waterfront perch and the polish. It's not kid-friendly, and there's no mention of dietary accommodations, so plan accordingly. Reservations aren't required, but walking in on a weekend sunset might test your patience.

San José del Cabo

Aguachiles El Moky

Aguachiles El Moky is a no-frills spot in centro San José del Cabo where the focus is entirely on the seafood. The name tells you what they do best — aguachiles, the raw shrimp marinated in lime and chiles that Sinaloa made famous — and the 5/5 across food, value, and service suggests they're doing it right. This is cheap-eats territory, which in San José usually means plastic chairs and a menu scribbled on a board, but when the cooking is this dialed in, none of that matters. The kitchen clearly knows how to handle fresh product, and the value rating means you're getting generous portions without the markup you'd see closer to the marina. Service is fast and straight to the point. The atmosphere score is a notch lower, which tracks — this isn't the place you linger for cocktails, it's the place you go when you want clean, sharp flavors and you want to be in and out without ceremony.
