Cabo in February

Cabo in February: 78°F highs, 58°F lows, zero · february is high season in full swing. Crowds, hotel prices, when to book, and what's worth doing.

February is peak Cabo — sunny, dry, and 78°F, with the year's best whale watching and the coldest water (69°F, wetsuit-worthy for snorkeling). It's also peak crowds and peak prices: Presidents' Day week and Valentine's getaways pack the beaches, restaurants need reservations, and hotels charge high-season rates. If you want whales, ideal golf weather, and don't mind the company, this is the month. If you want elbow room or a deal, look elsewhere.

Crowds & prices

February is high season in full swing. Hotels charge top dollar ($$$ — think $400–$800+ a night at mid-tier and up), flights spike around Presidents' Day, and Medano Beach is a sea of umbrellas. Restaurants in Cabo San Lucas and the Corridor book out at dinner; you'll want reservations. The upside: everything is open, tours run full schedules, and the vibe is energetic. Book early or pay a premium.

When to book

Book flights and hotels 3–5 months out for February. Presidents' Day week (mid-month) and Valentine's weekend sell out early; if those dates matter, push to 4–6 months. Last-minute deals are rare.

What to do

What February is made for.

On the calendar

  • Todos Santos Art Festival (early February)

Pack for February

  • Light layers — 78°F days, but 58°F desert nights cool off fast
  • Wetsuit or rashguard for snorkeling (69°F water is chilly for long swims)
  • Reef-safe sunscreen — dry, clear skies mean strong UV all day
  • Light jacket or hoodie for evening walks and boat rides
  • Reservations list — restaurants and tours book out, have confirmations on your phone

Know before you go

  • Book whale-watching tours for early morning — calmer seas, better light, and whales are most active at dawn.
  • Presidents' Day week (mid-month) is the busiest stretch; if your dates are flexible, aim for the first or last week of February for slightly thinner crowds.
  • Get dinner reservations 2–3 days ahead in Cabo San Lucas and the Corridor; walk-ins are tough in February.
  • The water is cold — rent a wetsuit at Chileno or Santa María for $10–15 if you plan to snorkel more than 20 minutes.
  • Medano Beach chairs fill up by 10 a.m. in high season; claim your palapa early or book a beach club in advance.
  • Valentine's weekend sees a spike within the spike — couples flood the resort restaurants; if that's your trip, book everything (dinner, spa, tours) well ahead.
  • If you're driving to Todos Santos for the Art Festival, go early in the day — the pueblo is small and parking gets tight fast.
